The Windmill Hills Centre is used by a wide range of community groups, organisations and residents. Our volunteer-led user groups include:
Upper Bensham Residents Association (UBRA) are a group of local residents who got together to promote the interests of residents in the area and seek improve conditions, and promote social activities. The group host coffee mornings, fundraising events and seasonal parties, including Halloween, Christmas, Easter and a very successful Jubilee Party. The group also run children's football sessions throughout Spring and Summer, and are very much involved in the day to day running of the community centre. The 4Cs Climate Change Community Champions - The group maintain the centre's garden area, facilitate community workshops, and have planned and built a greenhouse made of donated 2 litre plastic bottles. The 4Cs are now building a willow hut, and are developing raised flower beds which are accessible for gardeners who use wheelchairs. For more information please email [email protected]
ICTUS - All Abraham's Children - host weekly drop-in sessions for people who are Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the Gateshead area.
Advance Men's Health - the group supports local men who are at risk of social isolation through alcohol and substance dependence. The group prepare a weekly meal at the centre, engages with support professionals, and focuses on stimulating outdoor activities and pursuits.
